About

Xbox Game Pass is a subsciption service for games that launched in July 2017.

As a member on the original Xbox Game Pass design team, I helped create new ways for gamers to engage with Xbox Game Pass; creating, aligning, and updating visual designs for the mobile app launch.

The mobile app enables gamers to browse, search, and even download Xbox Game Pass games straight to their console, all from their phone.

Research

I looked at a lot of apps on my phone—Apple podcast, Nike, Spotify, Google Search, Amazon, YouTube—and talked to my peers to get their input. I also looked at a lot of mobile pattern websites.

Design

After receiving initial visual explorations and interaction framework from fellow teammates, I began playing with the mobile visuals; exploring and aligning the styles and patterns. I created a range of work—from thorough user flows, to user state tearsheets, and even a few redlines.

Results

While working on the app, we took beta app feedback into account. It released to GA in late 2018, and ratings on the iOS App Store and Google Play store have both been 4+ stars!
