About

I was in a 6-piece hip-hop/soul band called Stations. We played shows around Seattle, and released an EP in 2015.

We needed:

• an identity
• a unique gig poster for every show
• EP packaging design

The Seattle music scene is pretty saturated, so we needed something that stood out from the competition. While still representing our musical style and aesthetic. And ideally, look cool, too!

Research

I looked at vinyl album covers at the record store, gigposters.com, and pinterested. And kept my eyes peeled for neat looking posters in my neighborhood.

Design

I created an initial round of logos. Shared it around, got casual feedback, and then started playing with imagery. The space theme fit our style well—being dreamy, and also playing on our name, Stations.

Results

We built up our name and following! And sold EPs. But then the band broke up. Nevertheless, we kept getting new facebook followers. Gotta hope the design had something to do with that.
